Hello everyone,

This week we looked at the leaders debate and watched some of the highlights. We discussed some of the skills needed and processes that we could use to support us in not only a debate but in a job interview as they are similar skills. We looked at some of the aspects of debate and looked at some videos of middle school students debating. We focused very much on the need to make a statement, such as "cellphones should be banned in school", explain why and then support your thoughts with evidence. Such as "I think cellphones should be banned in school because it is a distraction for students who need to focus on developing and practicing important skills such as critical thinking."
We also had a bit of a discussion regarding using these skills in a small debate/discussion where we took both sides of a school issue.
